March 15 is Filing Deadline for 1120, 1120S etc
You can file an automatic extension for business returns using IRS form 7004.
Note - current clients of Columbia CPA Group: we have filed an extension for you if your 2009 return is not filed yet. Call our office if you have any questions.
Partnership returns, form 1065, are not due until April 15. However, the extension is only for 5 months, so the extension deadline will be September 15, the same as corporate business returns.
If filing a C-Corp Return (Form 1120), you may want to send an estimated payment with your extension application, if you expect to owe, to avoid late pay penalties. The automatic extension is for filing, not for paying.
LLC’s file as Schedule C or 1065 Partnership, unless the IRS has approved a request to file as an S-Corp, form 1120S.
